CHARLOTTESVILLE, V.A. (WVIR) - Hiring practices took center stage on Friday at a diversity panel at Piedmont Valley Community College. Charlottesville Women in Tech hosted a discussion with four professionals from central Virginia organizations.

They offered their experiences and strategies on how companies can encourage diversity in their workplaces.

"So we have some experts coming in from some of the local firms from UVA and other areas who have been working very hard at studying how do you recruit for diversity or trying different methods for recruiting for diversity,” Elaine Cheng, with Charlottesville Women in Tech, said.

The event also focused on how to attract more diverse candidates for positions and creating an inclusive environment to keep those candidates when they are hired.
