Water quality was the issue Thursday afternoon for the Rivanna Conservation Society. They reviewed the latest U.S. Geological Survey's work to keep rivers and streams clean and clear.
The USGS also monitors the volume of bodies of water. All that work is designed to aid conservationists.
"It helps them to prioritize what their issues might be in the Rivanna and then go and seek partners. Not only local and state and federal agencies but also private foundations," explained USGS's Pixie Hamilton.
Thursday's lunch was part of the Rivanna Conservation Society's series of river discussions. They're held on the third Thursday of each month and are open to the public.
