UVA's Sharnee Zoll Selected in WNBA DraftPosted: Updated:
ACC's all-time assist leader taken with first pick of the third round by the Los Angeles Sparks. Sharnee Zoll is taking her game to the next level. Literally. The four-year starter at the University of Virginia was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks with the first pick of the third round of the WNBA Draft.
Zoll, a native of Marlboro, NJ is the school's all-time assist leader, a record previously held by Dawn Staley. Zoll passed Staley's mark of 729 assists midway through her senior season. She also leaves Virginia fifth all-time in steals.
She will go down as a player who helped put women's basketball back on the map during her time at Virginia. The Cavaliers were selected to participate in this year's NCAA tournament, and reached the second round before being defeated by Old Dominion.
She will join Tennessee's Candace Parker who was also selected by the Sparks, a team that finished with a record of 10-24 during the 2007 season.
