Police need your help to catch an art thief. The thief got away with more than a dozen art pieces worth thousands of dollars.
The thief or thieves got away with a couple handfuls of jewelry and coins. Then, they cleaned the walls bare.
Waynesboro police say the break-in happened in a back window of a house on West Main Street sometime in late May. That's when a neighbor noticed something was wrong. The homeowner has been in a nursing home for more than a year.
The burglars got away with more than a dozen art prints, most of them rare P. Buckley Moss.
"Just went through everything. Just threw it all out on the floor. We've never had any problems here...never," said neighbor Evelyn Gibson.
Bonnie Stump with the P. Buckley Moss Museum said, "It's very personal. And you don't think of someone wanting to steal other people's art."
The stolen art will be hard for a thief to get rid of since the prints are signed and numbered by the artist.
