As Virginia’s General Assembly prepares to come together in Jan. 2019, people in Charlottesville are learning more about the latest environmental topics that lawmakers plan to tackle.

The Virginia Conservation Network (VCN) hosted a watch party to educate about topics such as natural gas pipelines, solar power, and climate change.

The watch party is the first of its kind hosted by Appalachian Voices and the Piedmont Environmental Council, but organizers are said to be planning to bring it back again in 2019.

“There’s more and more people are concerned about these kinds of issues in our state, so this was a way that VCN was able to broaden the network of people who are getting engaged and getting informed.” stated Cat McCue, the director of communications for Appalachian Voices.
