CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
A new building is now under construction in downtown Charlottesville.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 13, for the 3Twenty3 Charlottesville office complex on 2nd Street Southeast.
The state-of-the-art building will house five floors of office space and a four-level parking garage.
Developers are hopeful it'll bring lots of new jobs downtown.
“It may change the landscape because companies that would not otherwise be able to find space downtown will be able to come downtown, so this building could have 500 to 600 people working in it,” Jay Blanton, a founding partner of Insite Properties, said. “So it's going to be a boost to certainly the retail tenants that we've saved because we're building the building behind part of The Glass Building.”
Developers say the building will be complete in April 2020.
