Nixon averaged over 20 points per game during his senior season at STAB
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
Former St. Anne's-Belfield basketball star Jayden Nixon is playing for Tony Bennett's Cavaliers this season.
The 6-foot-3 freshman guard is a Preferred Walk-On with the 'Hoos.
He averaged over 20-points and 8-rebounds per game with the Saints during his senior season, and played at a post-grad school in Connecticut last year.
Nixon had a few offers to play elsewhere in college, but after growing up in Charlottesville, and with both of his parents UVa alums, Nixon is now living his dream.
"I was coming here as a little kid watching the games," says Nixon, "watching Tony Bennett do the great things he's been doing. Some of the players came to STAB to work out with trainers, so I've always been around the team, in ways more than just being the team. It's great to finally be here and be a part of a great dynasty."
Fifth-ranked Virginia will take on Towson in its season opener on Tuesday.
