CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

A Charlottesville store is missing its beloved centerpiece.

Store employees at Plow & Hearth in Charlottesville are asking the community to help find their iconic five-foot-tall stuffed bear.

Employees say that this isn't the first time that Madison, the store’s beloved stuffed bear, has been stolen. The bear was previously taken back in 2014, but was returned safely.

Madison had been on display at the Plow & Hearth store in the Barracks Road Shopping Center since it first opened.

Employees say that the bear was stolen between 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3.

Hank Dunton, the store manager, says Madison's disappearance has upset some young customers.

"Our regular shoppers, a lot of children, like to come by and say hi to the bear and have their picture taken with the bear, and she's our emissary and our mascot so we miss her a lot and we just want her back,” Dunton said.

Plow & Hearth is asking people to contact the store if they’ve seen Madison.

The store has also filed a police report in hopes the bear will be returned, but employees say they don't want to get anyone in trouble and they just want Madison returned safely.
