CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

Here's some good news for people who like to make the trip from Charlottesville to Washington, D.C. Megabus is offering a new express service starting Friday, October 12, that will leave from the Amtrak parking lot on West Main Street.

Buses will make two trips a day on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The service will also include one trip a day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

Colm Lynch, the vice president of Megabus, says a lot of people asked about this service.

“We have had a lot of requests to serve different regions and expand all the way into Atlanta and whatnot, and we've been receiving a lot of requests to start service to Charlottesville - specifically express service, so service doesn't have any stops along the way - and we basically sat down and got together to see how we would make this work,” Lynch said.

For the weekend of October 13-14 only, the price will be $4.99, and then prices will go up to its usual $20 for future trips.
