Hundreds gathered at IX Art Park in Charlottesville Sunday to celebrate the area’s Hispanic community and culture.

The annual C-Ville Sabroso Festival featured traditional Latin American dance and music performances. Food vendors also provided tasty treats such as empanadas and other traditional dishes to give the festival an authentic feel.

Some said the event was a chance to bring together members of the Hispanic community and make them feel welcome in Charlottesville.

“It’s important to have this festival because the community that it’s celebrating is often associated with one thing,” said event organizer Edgar Lara. “It’s often looked at negatively and there are so many misconceptions, but this is a community that has contributed and has so much value and there’s so much value.”

The event was hosted by Without Borders and was free to the community. Members said they are always accepting donations on their website.
