SCOTTSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

Bands are banding together to play some music and help raise money for the University of Virginia's Children Hospital.

Twelve bands are participating in a benefit concert called Chords 4 Kids at the Scottsville Pavilion on Saturday, October 6, to help support children in need.

The coordinator of the concert, Rich Palermo, says most people have known a sick child and this is a great way to help.

“There's a lot of kids, there's a lot of families, that if it hasn't affected you - I hope it never does - but I think you don't have to look far to have a friend or a relative that's had a sick child and the helplessness that happens when a child that young is sick from zero or minus zero up until 16 years old,” Palermo said.

The concert will be going on until 11 p.m.
