An oyster festival will benefit a central Virginia nonprofit known for giving toys to sick kids.

Saturday, October 6, 100 percent of proceeds from an oyster festival hosted by Rocksalt restaurant and other Shops at Stonefield businesses will benefit Mason's Toybox.

That charity was created in memory of Mason Clark Thomas, who passed away when he was 11 from neuroblastoma. He loved to share his toys, so his mother now delivers gifts to hospitalized children and their families around the holidays.

"It’s definitely going to help us when we have to purchase gifts for the children and families at the Ronald McDonald and the hospitality houses. And it's going to keep the toy drive going," said Kelley Kassay, Mason's mother.

The event starts at 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $20 for one person, or $35 for two people.
