ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

The application process is now open for area agencies to request funding from Albemarle County and Charlottesville for this fiscal year.

An orientation was held in CitySpace on Thursday, September 13, for agencies that may be interested in applying for county or city funding for programs.

At this point, the city and county are not yet sure of the exact amount of funding that will be available.

A county representative says agencies shouldn't focus on that and request the amount that meets their needs.

“These agencies are agencies that are primarily nonprofits that are doing programs on behalf of residents of the city or county,” Lori Allshouse, the director of Albemarle County’s Office of Management and Budget, said. “They are programs that are health and human services, also cultural and festivals, and those types of programs can also apply.”

Applications for funding are due by October 31.
