Due to a higher demand, the Valley Child Advocacy Center has a new and larger location in Staunton.

The new space on Greenville Avenue will allow the center to provide more services to more children that suffer with child abuse and neglect.

“We see more and more children every year,” said executive director of the center Rebecca Simmons. “Our community rallied around us and provided help and donations and were able to help us get into a larger space.”

Simmons says that VCAC sees a roughly 20 percent increase in children every year. Last year, the center saw 294 children and their families.

The center is looking for artists to paint a mural in the lobby to make the building more inviting for children.
