CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

The city is offering free mental health support to anyone who needs it over the weekend of August 11 and 12.

The Community Mental Health and Wellness Coalition is partnering with the Thomas Jefferson Medical Reserve Corps to offer free drop-in counseling.

A group of trained volunteers will be on hand.

"We are here with a group of trained volunteers to provide a safe space, comfort and support, help people to identify resources that they can tap into - whether it's their own personal strengths and coping mechanisms for what has helped them deal with stress in the past,” Rebecca Kendall, the director of the Community Mental Health and Wellness Coalition, said.

The service will be at 907 East Jefferson Street from 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. from Friday, August 10, until Monday, August 13.
