ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

A dental office in Albemarle County will be offering free, urgent dental care to people who can't afford or don't have access to regular dental care.

Crozet Blue Ridge Dental is teaming up with Charlottesville Oral Surgery to hold a free dental day Saturday, August 11. Dental hygienists, dentists, and oral surgeons will be on site to diagnose conditions causing pain and to provide limited services.

"It feels really great to give back to the community. The community's been good to us, our patients are wonderful, they're the best part of coming into work every day, except for my team, they would hate me if I didn't say that. But it’s really nice to be able to serve them and get people out of pain," said dentist Nick Minutella.

Some of those services include basic exams and X-rays for the areas of pain, basic surface clean-ups for patients whose pain is the result of plaque and tartar buildup on the teeth, and extractions of teeth that are broken or infected and causing pain.

"We're hoping for a really long line out the door so we can treat as many people as possible, get them in get them out, and hopefully have people smiling at the end of the day," dentist Justin Feehin said.

The practice says with health insurance costs on the rise, many people can't afford dental coverage or care. It also wants to remind people this special event is not meant to be a regular, comprehensive dental visit, but is rather to provide care to those in pain who would not otherwise be able to afford it.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Crozet Blue Ridge Dental.
