ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

Albemarle County Public School officials are working to keep another elementary school from getting overcrowded.

The county’s new superintendent, Matt Haas, held his last community meeting for his listening tour on Wednesday, August 8.

Ahead of Thursday’s school board meeting, Haas says the county is keeping an eye on Baker-Butler Elementary School to make sure it doesn't have too many students.

Haas says right now the school is at 107 percent capacity.

“So they're going to start looking at other solutions,” says Haas. “For example, adding classroom-trailers to the school to make the school bigger - or to also look at redistricting.”

At its meeting, the school board will also talk about a new working agreement with the superintendent to increase transparency.

That meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Albemarle County Office Building.
