The Charlottesville Tom Sox lost to New Market 16-4 Monday night in game one of the Valley Baseball League best-of-three championship series.
The Tom Sox built a 3-0 lead in the first inning but then gave up 15 of the next 16 runs.
New Market scored seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings, building an 8-3 lead and never trailed after that.
The Rebels out-hit the Tom Sox 19-7.
New Market can win the VBL championship Tuesday night at home with a win.
