CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

A federal judge has upheld a subpoena that will, in part, allow plaintiffs to gather information about communications leading up to the events of last August 11 and 12.

In a 28-page ruling, Chief Magistrate Judge Joseph Spero says plaintiffs are able to obtain communications through the service Discord, Inc. between Jason Kessler and 24 other defendants who were involved in the Unite the Right rally.

Victims injured on August 12 filed the suit back in October of 2017.

Plaintiffs say the ruling on Monday, August 6, is “another important step in proving that defendants engaged in a violent conspiracy.”

The case is set for trial in July 2019.
