CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

Unite the Right rally organizer Jason Kessler has dropped his lawsuit against the City of Charlottesville.

Kessler was suing the city after he was denied an event permit to host another Unite the Right rally at Market Street Park (formerly Emancipation Park) on the anniversary of last year's event. Kessler's permit was denied, along with a handful of other requests for the upcoming weekend.

Kessler has since publicly said he will not attempt to hold a rally in Charlottesville this year after he withdrew his request for an injunction in July. After his withdrawal, Kessler posted on Twitter saying that his focus for August 12 is now on hosting a rally in Washington, D.C.
