ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

Albemarle County supervisors are looking at restricting big trucks traveling on some backcountry roads.

On Wednesday, August 1, the board discussed placing a restriction on through trucks on Millers School and Owensville roads.

The restriction would limit any trucks other than pickup or panel trucks on the road.

The county motioned to hold a public hearing to get feedback on this potential truck restriction.

“This has been something that has been ongoing for a long time,” says Kevin McDermott, who lives in Albemarle County. “We've heard a lot of feedback from residents, especially in our rural areas, that live on these narrow, rural roads. They have a lot of concern regarding the safety on large trucks on some of the roads."

Albemarle County will be holding a public hearing on the through traffic restriction on October 10.
