Delegate Steve Landes is taking a ride on the Shenandoah Valley Railroad to experience its new improvements.

The railroad stretches from Staunton to Pleasant Valley.

The purpose of his ride on Monday, July 30, was to learn more about the Shenandoah Valley and to see improvements on the railroad funded by the Department of Rail and Public Transit.

One of the major improvements is new rail siding for the tracks. Landes also hopes to create more job opportunities in the area.

"We want to make sure that Virginians have jobs and that there are job opportunities, so we're going to look for additional ways to bring more jobs home to the Shenandoah Valley but across the state as well," says Landes.

Landes rode for over 20 miles on the railroad before returning to Verona.
