Virginia State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Louisa County

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

Update: 07/12/2018 at 9:20 p.m.

The trooper's preliminary investigation reveals that Stephen Hossain, 29, of Gordonsville, Va., was operating a 1992 Honda CBR motorcycle southbound on Route 15 in the left lane when he lost control and fell off the motorcycle.

A 2008 Kenworth tractor and trailer was also traveling southbound Route 15 in the right lane, unfortunately, run over Hossain with the rear tires of the trailer.

Hossain succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.

The crash remains under investigation.


A motorcyclist is dead after a crash Thursday afternoon in the Zion Crossroads area of Louisa County.

Virginia State Police said it responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Interstate 64 and Route 15 just after 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12.

Authorities believe a tractor trailer was heading through the intersection on a green light when the motorcycle hit it in the rear.

The rider died at the scene. His identity has not been released to the public at this time.

There are no reports of other injuries.

An investigation is underway.


07/12/2018 Release from Virginia State Police:

LOUISA CO., Va., - On July 12, 2018, at approximately 2:07 p.m. the Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash with a confirmed fatality at the intersection of Interstate 64 and Route 15.

Presently the investigation reveals that a tractor trailer was preceding through the intersection with a green light and a male driver of a motorcycle struck the tractor trailer in the rear.

The motorcycle operator succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

No other injuries have been reported.

The crash is in its preliminary stages of the investigation and an update will be provided once all proper notifications have been made.
