FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

Crews expect to start work in a few weeks to clear debris from the Rivanna River in Fluvanna County.

Large trees and debris are piled high on the river near the boat ramp by Crofton Bridge.

The Rivanna Conservation Alliance says the debris washed down during May's flooding and created a hazard for paddlers out on the water.

Engineers with the Virginia Department of Transportation say they've obtained necessary environmental approvals to clear the mess under the bridge within the next two to three weeks.
