CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

Former UVa golfer Lauren Greenlief advanced to the semifinals of the 93rd VSGA Women's Amateur Championship with a 7-and-6 victory over Mariah Hopkins on Wednesday afternoon at Farmington Country Club.

Greenlief is the defending tournament champion, and earned medalist honors during the stroke play portion of this year's tournament.

The 2011 Virginia graduate beat Meghan Fahey 6-and-5 in the Round of 16 on Wednesday morning.

Greenlief will face Rory Weinfurther in the semifinals on Thursday at 8 AM.

Lyndsey Hunnell and Amanda Hollandsworth will tee off in the other semifinal at 8:10 AM.

Hunnell is a former UVa golfer who will join the Xavier program as a grad transfer this fall.

Hollandsworth is a senior at Virginia Tech, and a two-time runner-up at the Amateur Championship.
