Eagles Wide Receiver Rashard Davis 'Grinding' this Off SeasonPosted: Updated:
Two years ago, Rashard Davis was hoisting an FCS National Championship trophy.
This past February, he won a Super Bowl with the Eagles.
"Obviously a Lombardi trophy is way bigger," says Davis. "You got to be there, you got to go through that season to really know how that felt. Words can't really describe how that felt."
While Davis can't describe the feeling of winning a super bowl.
He says the path the Eagles took to winning an NFL championship felt similar to the path his JMU Dukes took to winning an FCS national championship.
"We had that family vibe in the locker room," says Davis. "Everybody was indulged in the word of God, trying to keep him on our side. We got to a point where we felt like we couldn't be stopped."
Davis spent last year on the Eagles practice squad.
Although he has a super bowl ring, Davis is out to prove he can make more of an impact with the team.
"I've had coaches from college, professional and come tell me they see the work ethic I have," says Davis. "They tell me to keep grinding and it motivates me to keep pushing."
Grinding is what Davis is doing this whole off season.
"I'm trying to get faster, quicker, I'm trying to have 0 drops this whole season, in practice games, everything," says Davis.
Davis is also giving back to the Charlottesville community.
He recently held his second annual youth football camp.
Davis is following in the footsteps of another football star, who came out of the Charlottesville area.
That would be Chris Long, who also happens to be a teammate with Davis on the Eagles.
"He helped me with anything I need," says Davis. "He's coming from Charlottesville too. He knows how under-recruited this area is and how much exposure we really get. Its not a lot, so just to be able to make it out of here is real cool."
