Sean Doolittle was selected to his 2nd All-Star game
WASHINGTON, DC (WVIR) -
Former Virginia baseball star and Nationals closer Sean Doolitte was selected to the National League All-Star team.
Doolittle joins teammates Bryce Harper and Max Scherzer as members of the NL All-Star team
Its Doolittle's first all-star selection since his lone selection with Oakland back in 2014.
"I think of where I was a year ago," says Doolittle. "I hadn't even been traded over here yet. I wasn't even the closer on that team and now I get to represent this team and this city in front of these fans in the all-star game."
The 31-year old lefty recently underwent a precautionary MRI on his foot and the team doesn't envision it developing into a problem.
During this season, Doolittle has posted a 1.45 ERA to go along with 49 strike outs in over 37 innings pitched.
This year's MLB All-Star game is being held at Nationals Park on Tuesday July 17th.
Its the first time an all-star game has been played in D.C. since it was held at RFK in 1969.
