Charlottesville Parks and Rec Departments Rolls out Some Summer Fun

Posted: Updated:

Charlottesville's Parks and Recreation Department hosted a special roller skating event this Saturday.

This occasion was held at Carver Recreation Center and was aptly named "Rolling into Summer."

Although the city normally hosts skating events on Fridays and Sundays, Saturday's event was a little more special, featuring a DJ.
Families rented skates and also enjoyed some hot dogs and other refreshments.

"My goal when we do these events is just to have the families come together,” said Nancy Burney, the Carver Rec Center manager. “People work all day and all week long and these are just fun events for them to come, bring their children, their significant others and just come and have a good time. Meet new people and see what Parks and Recreation is all about."

Those interested in attending another community celebration are encouraged to come to Washington Park Pool on July 8, for "Sunday Sundowns."
