Dozens showed up to the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center in Charlottesville today for a community discussion about lynching in the American south.

The event included a showing of the documentary followed by a talk with the film makers.

The discussion is in preparation of the Charlottesville Civil Rights Pilgrimage, which is set to start Sunday.

The goal of the pilgrimage is to bring soil collected from the site where John Henry James was lynched in Albemarle in 1898 to the Equal Justice Initiative's Monument in Montgomery Alabama.
