STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) -

Staunton City Schools is bringing books straight to kids to help them use their summer break wisely.

Two mornings a week, the Parent Resource Van travels to nearly a dozen locations throughout the city.

The van is filled with a variety of books for kids of all ages to read.

The Staunton schools director of instruction says the van takes books right to where kids live.

"We want it to be a year-long process where kids have access to texts throughout the entire year,” says Stephanie Haskins, the school system's director of instruction. “Summer is often a time where kids sort of take a break and enjoy some sun and fun, and we want them to enjoy reading, too."

The Parent Resource Van runs Tuesday and Wednesday mornings through the end of July.
