Waynesboro jumped out to a 6-0 lead, and the Generals held on to beat the Tom Sox 7-6 at C-VILLE Weekly Ballpark in Charlottesville on Wednesday night.

Generals' starting pitcher Matt Ellmyer pitched five shutout innings, giving up just four hits, while striking out six.

Brett Teodosio went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored at the plate.

The Tom Sox scored five runs in the 6th, and one more in the 7th to tie the game, but they could never take the lead.

Aron Solis pitched the final two innings to earn the save for Waynesboro.

The loss drops the Tom Sox out of a tie for first place in the VBL South Division.

Charlottesville (14-8) now trails the Lumberjacks (15-8) by a half-game in the division standings.

Waynesboro (13-12) jumps up to third-place, with a half-game lead on Harrisonburg (13-13) and Staunton (13-12).

The Generals host the Braves on Thursday, while Charlottesville travels to Winchester.
