EARLYSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

Dozens of families are celebrating Independence Day at the annual Earlysville Parade on Wednesday, July 4.

The fire department led the parade down Earlysville Road, and community members came out to watch the fun take place.

People participating in the parade threw candy out to kids in the crowd.

And for a lot of these people, this is an event near and dear to their hearts.

“This is actually our third year here,” says Donna Gouzman, who lives in Earlysville. “It's becoming a family tradition. We moved in the area about three years ago and we fell in love with the parade, so we’ve been coming ever since."

Gouzman’s husband is a volunteer firefighter, and she and their daughter got to watch him ride along in the parade with the fire department.
