Andy Weber officially became a member of the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, as the former UVa second baseman signed with the team.

Weber made the announcement via his twitter account: "Officially a part of the @Cubs organization! #FlyTheW"

The Cubs selected Weber in the 5th round of the MLB Draft last month.

He was First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-American as a junior last year.

Weber led the 'Hoos in runs (42), hits (72), doubles (19), triples (3), home runs (5), and RBI (49).

His .344 batting average was the second-highest in the ACC.

Five out of UVa's six drafted players have signed before Friday's deadline, with only Cam Simmons remaining.

The outfielder was picked by the Rangers in the 15th round of the draft, after missing all of his junior season due to injury.
