Firefighters Respond to Sherwood Road Fire,Still Determining Cause of Blaze

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

The Charlottesville fire department responded to the 1100 block of Sherwood Road just before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday to fight a fire. Fire officials are currently trying to determine the cause of the fire that erupted in the Charlottesville home.

NBC29 is told that the fire started on the porch of the building and spread to the home's main living room.

Firefighters say there were two people home when the fire started. Both people were examined by medics on the scene and were subsequently released.

Crews rescued one dog and one cat from the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
