CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

A Charlottesville woman is about to begin her third trip to Uganda to help create water systems for villages across the country.

Eighty-year-old Theresa Lynch started volunteering overseas after her church, the Holy Comforter Catholic Church, made a trip to Africa several years ago.

In her volunteering time, Lynch has helped install solar kits and cisterns, which are tanks that can hold 1,000 liters of water.

Lynch said she refuses to let age slow her down.

"God is giving me an extension. I'm living beyond the age that many people in our society die, even though they have good health care. So, it's important to me to contribute something," she said.

Lynch is scheduled to leave for Uganda in the New Year, and will return at the end of January.
