If you're ever chased by police, you might want to avoid the strategy used by a suspect in Oregon.
Authorities chased Timofey Erofeeff, 27, for prowling for boats. He tried to escape by driving off a pier and into the Columbia River.
The one flaw in his plan was the frigid water temperature.
Erofeeff reportedly tried to swim a few hundred feet before changing his mind.
Some fishermen in a nearby boat helped Erofeeff. He was treated for hypothermia and later booked on charges of burglary and attempting to elude police and several other misdemeanors.
Police worked with the Coast Guard to retrieve the Ford F-150 pickup.
