ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

A fatal car crash in North Carolina has taken the life of a man from Earlysville.

Twenty-one-year-old Alec Johnathan DeJong and his twin brother Brandon were traveling home for Christmas break Saturday, December 16, when a truck rear-ended another vehicle, which caused a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 85.

Alec died at the scene. He was a student at Clemson University and a 2015 graduate of the Covenant School.

A celebration of Alec’s life is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. Friday, December 22, at The Covenant School Upper Campus on 175 Hickory Street.
