Fatal crash creates roadblock near Harlem HeightsPosted: Updated:
One person is dead and traffic is a mess after a crash in Fort Myers.
It happened at the intersection Bass Road and Gladiolus Drive – just east of Harlem Heights.
A Lee County Parks and Rec vehicle is involved, according to a witness on scene.
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper we spoke with on scene said the county vehicle had the right of way driving down Gladiolus. He said a white Kia was headed the opposite way, made a left turn, and was T-boned.
The driver of the county truck was sent to the hospital. We don't yet know the extent of this person's injuries.
The county has been notified that one of their vehicles was involved in the crash.
A medical examiner is on the way to the scene.
Parts of Bass Road are still closed off as the investigation continues.
