UVA is beginning construction on an indoor golf course
The course will have state-of-the-art technology
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
An Albemarle County golf course broke ground on Friday, November 10, on a brand new practice facility.
Birdwood Golf Course, the official course of the University of Virginia men’s and women’s golf teams, celebrated the start of construction on a new indoor practice facility.
It will boast state-of-the-art technology that the teams say will help with recruiting efforts.
“The recruits that are looking for this in the process - they want to see that we have the best equipment, the best technology, and certainly this building will give us the ability to attract the best student athletes in the country,” says Bowen Sargent, UVA men’s golf coach.
The 10,000 square foot facility will house a number of hitting bays similar to an outdoor driving range, as well as locker rooms for the men’s and women’s teams.
