ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors has unanimously adopted a resolution in its commitment to protecting the environment.

The Climate Action Plan reaffirms the county's goals to protect its natural resources. Some focuses of the plan are on the landscape, transportation, and use of materials within the county.

“The cost of solar has just dropped so fast that there is so much opportunity for people to actual save money and help with the climate action, that this is just a tremendous opportunity,” Supervisor Norman Dill said.

Supervisors are hoping to work with Charlottesville and University of Virginia in their climate change efforts.

The Climate Action Plan will be presented again to supervisors in a year, with a more clear layout of exactly how the goals will be accomplished.
