Work is officially underway to make lane adjustments on Charlottesville’s crumbling Belmont Bridge.
On Tuesday crews started to paint the new lines as they prepare to close the last open sidewalk, which is now a safety concern.
Engineers are separating the two lanes of southbound traffic to create one lane for cars, and another for pedestrians.
The sidewalk will not close until the concrete buffer between the two lanes is in place.
