A draft report released Friday by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) says changes proposed for the controversial Atlantic Coast Pipeline significantly reduce the environmental impacts of the project.
In a press release, Dominion Energy says the FERC review also reinforces previous findings saying natural gas pipelines do not adversely impact tourist economies or residential property values.
A group opposed to the Atlantic Coast Pipeline project says the study reveals that FERC has ignored evidence that the massive pipeline is not needed to meet demand and that the project.
Those against the proposed pipeline say it is a threat to human life, rural communities, private property, and will cause permanent environmental destruction.
