CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

People are already getting out to the gym, trying to work off all those extra calories from Thursday’s big meal.

Staff members at the ACAC Fitness Center in downtown Charlottesville say the day following Thanksgiving is one of the busier days of the year.

Manager Joe Horton has some tips for Friday's trip to the gym, but he says that it may take more than one day to make up for last night: “Well I would start with a half hour and work up to as many minutes as you can. There's an old saying, ‘you can't exercise off a bad nutritional day.’ So people are coming in here trying the best they can to burn it up,” he said.

Trainers say the average person would need to run for 35 minutes or do 60 minutes of yoga.to burn off the calories from just one slice of pie.
