Police Searching for Charlottesville Man in Connection to Robberies

The Charlottesville Police Department is trying to track down a man it believes is responsible for two robberies and a burglary in the city.

Authorities suspect 40-year-old Carey Pertelle Gilmore of robbing the Waffle House on 5th Street Tuesday, November 22, and the Lucky 7 convenience store on East Market Street Wednesday, Nov. 23.

According to investigators, Gilmore threatened victims by saying he had a bomb. He is also suspected of a burglary at the Residence Inn on West Main Street.

Gilmore is described as being a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 200 lbs., who also goes by “Turner” or “Malteke”. He has several tattoos: “Taneak” on his chest, “God” on his stomach, “Sincere” on his left arm, and other tattoos on both arms.

Anyone with information about Gilmore’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.

The Charlottesville Police Department is currently attempting to locate a wanted subject in relation to two robberies and a burglary that occurred in the city of Charlottesville.

Carey Pertelle Gilmore, 40 years of age, is currently wanted on multiple warrants related to the robbery of the Waffle House located at 1162 5th St SW on 11/22/2016, the robbery of the Lucky 7 convenience store located at 801 East Market Street on 11/23/2016 and a burglary/larceny that occurred at the Residence Inn located at 315 W.Main Street on 11/22/2016.

During both robberies, Gilmore threatened the victims by stating he had an explosive device. Although one was never produced, Gilmore should be considered dangerous.
