ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

Albemarle County and Charlottesville police are giving parents some advice before the holidays with a presentation called Your Life Depends on Your Decisions.

The presentation walks people through an interactive game with videos to see if they can tell the difference between a real gun and a toy gun.

Police aren't saying parents can’t buy BB guns and airsoft guns for their children for the holidays, but they want people to know that some won't know the gun is a toy.

"If I happen to be an average citizen and I'm walking down the street and I see two people running around pointing guns at each other, that's going to be disturbing. I'm probably going to call the police. Some people are willing to go the next step and address it themselves that can still result in a tragedy,” said Albemarle County Police Department’s crime prevention specialist Andrew Gluba.

Police had fake guns on display to show how similar real guns and toy guns look.

They hope to use this presentation in city schools.
