Charlottesville City Council Discussing Affordable Housing Plans
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
Charlottesville City Council is contemplating plans to increase affordable housing in Charlottesville.
Councilors were presented short-term and long-term solutions from the housing advisory committee. Some of the short-term recommendations included potential changes to the current zoning ordinance, such as encouraging smaller lot sizes and focusing on mixed-use, mixed-income housing.
In the long-term, staff recommend allotting city funding through the redevelopment and housing authority to assist with redevelopment of public housing.
