CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

Charlottesville police have identified the pedestrian who died after being hit by a car last week.

Thirty-nine-year-old Kenneth Lee Clark of Scottsville died Sunday, November 20, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Police say Clark was hit by a car along Monticello Avenue at Quarry Road around 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18. They believe he was walking in the roadway when he was hit.

Investigators are working with the commonwealth's attorney to determine whether the driver will face charges.

11/22/2016 Updated Release from the Charlottesville Police Department:

The pedestrian that was struck on 11/18/2016 and subsequently died on 11/20/2016 at the University of Virginia Hospital was Kenneth Lee Clark – W/M; 39 years of age; resident of Scottsville, Virginia.

The investigation in to this accident is still on-going and once complete a thorough review of the evidence will be conducted in collaboration with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office to see if any charges are appropriate.

11/21/2016 Release from the Charlottesville Police Department:

The pedestrian that was struck on 11/18/2016 in the area of Monticello Avenue and Quarry Road died on Sunday 11/20/2016 at the University of Virginia Hospital.

This is still an on-going investigation and as such no additional information will be released at this time. Once our investigation is complete, our department will confer with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office as to whether any charges are appropriate.

11/18/2016 Release from the Charlottesville Police Department:

On 11/18/2016 at approximately 6:10 p.m. officers with the Charlottesville Police Department responded to the area of Monticello Avenue and Quarry Rd for the report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, they found that a thirty nine (39) year old male had been struck while in the roadway. The driver of the motor vehicle remained on scene and has been interviewed by officers.

The victim was transported to the University of Virginia Emergency Room and is currently in critical condition.

This accident is an on-going investigation and anyone who has information related to this incident is asked to call Officer Fitzgerald at 434-970-3280.
