ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

Police have charged an Albemarle County man in connection to a late night shooting.

Authorities arrested 84-year-old Donald T. Short on Thursday, charging him with malicious wounding.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, in the 2400 block of Commonwealth Drive.

Police say the victim was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center and underwent surgery around 1 a.m. He is still listed in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.

Albemarle County Police Detectives arrested 84-year-old Donald T. Short of Albemarle County on Thursday and charged him with malicious wounding.

Patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the 2400 block of Commonwealth Drive around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

The shooting was an isolated incident and the victim was transported to the UVA Medical Center for treatment. He is listed in critical condition.

This case remains under investigation.
