Kyle Guy is Virginia's first McDonald's All-American in eight years
Highly touted UVa freshman Kyle Guy will likely makes his college basketball debut with Virginia Friday night in UVa's season opener at UNC-Greensboro.
UVa coach Tony Bennett says two or three of his freshmen will need to make an impact this season.
Guy is the most likely to have the biggest impact. He is Virginia's first McDonald's All-American in eight years. Guy led the 'Hoos with 13 points in Virginia's Blue-White scrimmage last month.
Guy is slim at 6'3'' 165 pounds but he has outstanding skills.
UVa coach Tony Bennett says, "We're excited about him because he's a wonderful young man. He brings a flair to the game. He can fly off screens, hit shots. He's got a real good pep to his step. I guess you'd say, and we're hopeful that in the right opportunities, he's going to thrive. Its not a matter of if. I believe its when, and its just when they're ready. Its a lot. I don't ever expect a whole lot. Hopefully, I'm pleasantly surprised by the freshman, but you don't know what you're going to get".
Guy could give the 'Hoos a boost Friday with Mamadi Diakite and Austin Nichols both out.
