CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
Dozens of University of Virginia law students spent Sunday sprucing up areas around Charlottesville.
More than 70 first year law students took part in the eighth annual Public Service Day.
This group spent the morning volunteering at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. They did some mulching and cleaned bio-retention basins and dog pools.
"This makes me happy cause it's like a group thing and we get together and you know get a lot of things accomplished in a few hours and the trails look nice and, it’s just a good thing all around," said Cindi Scott, a SPCA volunteer.
Other cleanup projects included working with the Rivanna Conservation Alliance and Camp Holiday Trails. Students say they are glad to have the opportunity to give back to their new community even before they start law school.
